What is crossfit?
CrossFit is a lifestyle characterized by safe, effective exercise and sound nutrition. It employs constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity to improve overall fitness. At Phoenix Athletix Club, we provide a workout of the day (WOD) that changes on a daily basis. These workouts consist of strength training, weightlifting, gymnastics and aerobic exercises. By bringing together all the major fitness modalities in varied formats, we are able to create the most effective full-body workout that will improve performance at all levels.
i am new to working out - is crossfit right for me?
All you need to get started is an open mind and a willingness to give it a try! We have a Foundations Program for those new to CrossFit to work with a coach one-on-one and learn the basics prior to joining group classes. Once you join group classes, you will be connecting with members of all fitness levels who provide a supportive, encouraging environment as you progress.
Can i participate in crossfit if i have suffered an injury?
Yes! In fact, with the correct coaching, we encourage it. Participating in a functional fitness program will ensure proper foundational strength is established to maximize your body’s capabilities and prevent future injuries. Additionally, our coaches are highly trained to work with individuals of all fitness levels to provide proper scaling options specific to injury rehabilitation.
IS there an age limit?
Absolutely not. Participating in a quality fitness program is important at all ages to prevent injuries and ensure proper movement and mobility. Our skilled coaches are able to scale every movement to your ability and comfort level. Our members range from 6 to 75 years old!
is it safe?
Our small class sizes (5-15 participants) and attentive coaches ensure you are working in the safest possible environment. Teaching proper form for all movements is our highest priority, and our coaches will always ensure a strong foundation is established prior to increasing weights or intensity.
why does it cost more than a traditional gym?
Unlike the traditional gym experience, we structure our classes to provide you personal training in a group setting. Our classes range from 5-15 athletes, giving the coaches the ability to train you one-on-one in every class. In addition to guiding you through a warm up, the coaches will spend time leading athletes through strength and skill development. During this time, our coaches are able to provide you with individualized instruction based on your specific needs and abilities. Following the strength and skill portion of the class, you will complete a workout of the day designed to maximize metabolic conditioning and muscular endurance. Our trainers and daily workouts provide a holistic approach to fitness to deliver the most effective one hour workout possible.
How Do I Get Started?
Whether you are new to CrossFit or have previous experience, you are welcome to come try a class for free. If you choose to join PAC and do not have previous CrossFit experience, you will be enrolled in our Foundations Program to work with a coach one-on-one to learn the basics of CrossFit. Once completed, you will be able to join any group class you choose!
